Our highest endeavor must be to develop free human beings, who are able of themselves to impart purpose and meaning to their lives.

NYSAIS Accreditation
The Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs is pleased to announce that the
New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) has granted us accreditation.
This is a great step for our school in its 30th year
of education.
Our next steps will be to review any recommendations
they have made with the faculty and board.

NYSAIS (a professional, educational authority) assures that the school is doing what it says it's doing and its educational program is aligned with the its stated mission and culture.
The school undergoes a thorough reflection and evaluation of all aspects of its educational program, governance structure, communications, health and safety standards and business practices, not on a one-time basis, but on a routine and on-going basis.
Through this cycle of accreditation, a school examines its strengths and challenges and uses intense self-reflection and analysis to track its achievements and identify its challenges.
An on-site team of educators examines the school and makes recommendations; through NYSAIS the school is held accountable to addressing these recommendations and making improvements.

Barefoot Book of the Week:
Since the 2008/2009 school year, the Gateway Books grant has allowed classroom teachers in grades 1-8 to purchase books for their classrooms. Now we are continuing to expand our literacy outreach, and have teamed up with Barefoot Books to offer our students beautiful books for their home libraries. Each week (each month in the summer) we will feature another title from the Barefoot collection that will support your child's Waldorf education at home. Each book you buy from Barefoot earns money for out Gateway Books program, allowing us to expand our classroom libraries year by year. Click here to go directly to the Barefoot Books website and to peruse their lovely selection of books.

African Tales
A Barefoot Collection

Explore this colorful continent and uncover the rich ways of life of the many peoples who live there. The eight stories in this collection, each from a different African country, feature educational facts and information about the cultures from which they are chosen. The stories are retold by award-winning Xhosa storyteller Gcina Mphlope, from Durban, South Africa. Includes a full-color map.

10% of the proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to Books for Africa, an organization that collects, ships and distributes books to children across the African continent.
