Alexandra Queenan

Admissions Coordinator

Alexandra joined the Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs back in 2007 as a 9th grader. She then went on to graduate in 2011. Having studied abroad in Ireland, Alexandra found her way back to Saratoga Springs where she worked in the community, always staying connected to her Waldorf roots. She loves working with children and has a son of her own. Now our Admissions Coordinator, Alexandra looks forward to working with all of our families and staff members to ensure that every student enjoys their Waldorf School experience.

Astrea RavenStar

Administrator

Astrea has been involved in Waldorf Education for over 19 years as a parent, class teacher, faculty chair, board member, and in her current role as Administrator of the Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs. She became a class teacher in 2009, and transitioned into the role of Administrator in 2022 after many years of leadership experience. Her oldest daughter graduated from WSSS in 2021, and her younger daughter is a Junior. Astrea holds a B.A. from Empire State College in Cultural Studies with an emphasis on Creative Writing, a Waldorf Teaching Certificate from Antioch University, a Collaborative Leadership certificate from Sunbridge Institute, and a Level I certificate from the Spacial Dynamics Institute. Before discovering Waldorf education, Astrea worked as a massage therapist and birth doula. She has a passion for the multidisciplinary nature of Waldorf education and seeing the movement thrive into the future by embracing the needs of our time, and fostering Waldorf's expansive, practical, diverse curriculum and collaborative community building. 

Beth Van De Water

Guidance Coordinator

Beth graduated from The University of Vermont (B.S. in Human Development) and St.

Lawrence University (Masters in Counseling/Guidance). Currently, she is a personal/group

coach and teaches knitting at Common Thread Saratoga. She is excited to return to our school

as Guidance Coordinator. Beth’s children attended our school from 2001-2012 and during that

time she taught handwork and worked in Admissions. She has seen first hand how important a

Waldorf education is for her children and is excited to support our high school students as they

develop their post-Waldorf plans.

Kris Ferachi

High School Office Manager

Kris holds a Bachelor of Science and a M. Ed. in Special Education from Auburn University. They taught in the public schools in New Mexico and Colorado for eighteen years. In 2019, Kris received a M.A. degree in Transpersonal Ecopsychology from Naropa University. When Kris arrived in New York in 2021, they were thrilled to find the Waldorf community for their daughter's education. Kris looks forward to building connections and providing an inviting, supportive environment for staff, students, and families.

Lauren Neulander

Registrar

Lauren earned a B.S. in Environmental Forest Biology from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in 2005. She worked for the NYS Department of Health from 2006-2011 as a research scientist. In 2011, she helped launch Advanced Environmental Geology, LLC, an environmental and geologic consulting firm in Clifton Park and worked there until 2018. She has also worked at the Saratoga Springs Farmer's Market and has been a Waldorf parent since 2014.

Nicole VanZandt

Business Manager

Nicole holds a B.A. and M.A. in English literature from the University of Connecticut, with a concentration in Irish Literature. She served as an adjunct instructor at Purdue University, taught English at the Hopkins School in New Haven, CT, then worked as an editor at Redspring Communications/McMurry Inc. in Saratoga. She stayed home for ten years with her children and helped her husband manage their rental property business before embarking on a new career in 2020 with the Waldorf School. She has three children who currently attend the Waldorf Lower School and all three of whom went to Waldorf preschool.

Theresa Lauria

Lower School Office Manager

Theresa comes to us from the Saratoga YMCA, where she worked the front desk and interacted with families every day for more than six years. Before that, she managed a jewelry store for over eight years. She loves photography, writing, and getting to know people. Theresa is excited to join the staff at The Waldorf Lower School this Fall.
