Donna Behen

Donna has been a member of the board since 2015. She has a BA in communications from Fordham University and is a senior editor at a content marketing firm. Donna and her husband Karl have three children, all of whom are students at the Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs.

Sarah Day-O'Connell

Sarah Day-O'Connell is Associate Professor and Associate Chair in the Music Department at Skidmore College, where she teaches music history and culture.  She grew up in Boulder, Colorado and has lived in London, Edinburgh (Scotland), and Montreal with her husband Jeremy and their two sons, both students at WSSS.

Richard Frank

Board Chair.  Richard has a BA in history from Duke University and has owned Four Seasons Natural Foods since 1990. He joined the Board in 2007, served as Treasurer from 2008-2012, and Chair since then.

Bradley Howe

Bradley recently joined the Board in 2018.  He and his wife Jennifer have three young children who are part of the Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs community.  He holds a BS in Biomedical Engineering and owns a feed ingredient brokerage firm in Saratoga Springs. 

Katarina Jaques

Kathy Jaques joined the Board in 2016. She is a parent of two Waldorf kids and wanted to help the school further its life-changing work. She was a critical-care registered nurse for twenty years and now works in Utilization Review for MVP Heath Care.

Carla Metz

Carla Metz is the proud parent of Harry, who is a student at The Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs, her husband Tom, is a teacher in the BHBL school district.  They live with their dog Paco in Saratoga Springs. Carla is certified in Social Security education, is a licensed insurance professional in New York & Massachusetts, teaching classes on retirement planning through SOFA, a non-profit organization, and is happily employed by The Optimus Group in Clifton Park.    

Julie Niles

Julie holds a B.A. in liberal arts from Hamilton College and previously worked as the managing editor of a Dow Jones Financial news wire in Washington, D.C.  Julie and her husband Mark have been Waldorf parents for 15 years. Their daughter graduated with the Class of 2017 and their son is in the Class of 2020. She joined our staff in 2010.

Michael O'Donnell

Michael has degrees from both UCLA and SDSU.  He has been working in the field of education for 30 years.  He has two daughters, ages 20 and 23; both are graduates of the Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs.

Burt Porter

Burt Porter is a retired educational administrator with three children who are WSSS alums.  He and his wife, Katie are among the founding parents of the Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs.  When their oldest daughter was enrolled in the Waldorf kindergarten, they liked the experience so much that they and several other parents decided that they wanted to create a first grade so that their kids could continue to enjoy the benefits of a Waldorf education.  The rest, as they say, is history!

Manon Sabatier

 Manon holds a master’s degree from the Université Paul Valéry, France and a certificate in Waldorf education from Sunbridge College.  She has also taught French in our high school as well as parent/child and preschool classes.  Manon joined our faculty in 2003.

Michael Whitney

Michael graduated from Pratt institute in 1994 with a BA in Industrial design. He worked for many years fabricating cabinets and furniture in Brooklyn. During those years he found time to have three kids and create hundreds of one of a kind functional products using found objects. He completed his Waldorf training at the Alkion Center in Hawthorne Valley in 2016. Michael joined our faculty in 2014.
