“Nobody can discover the world for somebody else. Only when we discover it for ourselves does it become common ground and a common bond and we cease to be alone.”
― Wendell Berry
GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES
Waldorf graduates are global citizens with a deep understanding of and curiosity about the world. Foreign language instruction begins with French in first grade and German in sixth. Throughout the grades, a rich exploration of ancient cultures and geography provide a solid contextual knowledge of global history and appreciation of connections among human cultures worldwide. A highlight of our Middle School experience is the seventh grade cultural immersion trip to Montreal and Quebec City. In tenth and eleventh grades, WSSS students have an opportunity to spend a semester abroad in a foreign language exchange program with other Waldorf schools in Germany, Austria, France, or Switzerland. And our English Language Immersion Program invites students from Waldorf schools around the world to spend flexible immersion terms here to further their English language instructions. Our school offers the best of both worlds -- small class size and student/teacher ratios with a global perspective! Whether home or abroad, citizenship, community service and character is fostered in each student.
