The school was founded in 1981 and currently serves approximately 130 children from preschool through grade eight. We have an Absolute Charter from the New York State Education Department, are accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS), and are full members of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA). Our eclectic downtown campus is spread over two historic buildings, both of which are within walking distance of each other in the small city of Saratoga Springs, NY, while our Forest campus is located on over 300 forested acres of state park land, 2 miles outside of town. 

Our Early Childhood program houses parent-child, preschool, and mixed-aged kindergarten classes. The lower school serves grades one through eight and offers a richness of experience through main lesson content and special subjects (woodwork, handwork, music, movement, eurythmy, and spacial dynamics).

  • The Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs is seeking an Admissions Coordinator beginning in December 2023. The Admissions Coordinator is responsible for the overarching enrollment efforts, from reaching prospective families in the greater community to holding the picture of the parents once they’ve enrolled. The enrollment efforts build on the public relations and marketing efforts of the Development office to draw prospective families to the school, and work with the Enrollment Committee, Communications Committee, faculty, staff and board to create and implement the enrollment strategies for the school’s present and future needs.

    Hours: The Admissions Coordinator is hired to work full time to complete necessary tasks and goals.

    Qualifications

    The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in admissions or enrollment at an educational institution, Waldorf experience, and/public relations, marketing, and outreach skills and experience

  • The Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs is seeking an Aftercare Assistant for the 23/24 school year at the Forest campus. Successful applicants will have an interest in Waldorf education and a love of being outdoors. Responsibilities include supporting the Aftercare Lead Teacher and children with all activities. Hours are 2:15 to 5:00 and the majority of time will be spent outside.

    This position may be expanded by combining it with the Kindergarten Assistant position.

  • The Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs is seeking an assistant teacher for our mixed age Kindergarten (ages 3 to 6). Successful applicants will be creative, nurturing individuals who have experience working with children. A love of the outdoors is essential, as a significant portion of each day is spent outside. Ideal candidates will demonstrate an interest in Waldorf Education and the ability to work closely under the guidance of the Lead Teacher.

    Responsibilities include supporting the lead teacher and children throughout the day, room setup and cleanup. Hours are 8:00 to 2:30, Monday through Friday.

  • Summary of Basic Functions & Responsibilities:

    Under the direction of the school Administrator, plan and complete the necessary maintenance work assigned to appropriately maintain the buildings and grounds at our three campus locations.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Assure school buildings, grounds, facilities and equipment are operational and health, safety and security policies and guidelines are met

    • Inspect school buildings and grounds daily to assure that proper safety, cleaning and sanitation standards are maintained

    • Report any immediate needs to the school Administrator

    • Assume responsibility for the school alarm system.

    • Arrange for necessary repair work by vendors and contracted maintenance personnel

    • Contact and follow up with vendors by telephone/email as necessary

    • Inspect and review work performed to assure school standards are met

    • Plan for and complete all necessary seasonal grounds work including but not limited to: maintenance and care of sidewalks, parking lots, trees, shrubs, lawns and fields

    • Confer with school administrators in planning as required maintenance and cleaning of school campus locations

    • Order custodial supplies and materials needed to maintain school

    • Direct delivery and warehousing of all school supplies

    • Maintain records concerning work requests, supplies and other matters

    • Conduct and maintain up to date records of fire drills at each campus location

    • Prepare quarterly reports as required

    • Plan and implement a preventive maintenance program for school buildings and grounds

    • Develop and oversee the Facilities Management Plan

    • Coordinate use of school facilities with staff and community groups; communicate with users about specific needs; assist the public as necessary

    • Assure that all safety requirements are followed

    • Respond to emergency call-backs during off-duty hours

    • Perform related duties as assigned

    Qualifications Knowledge and Skills:

    • Methods, materials and equipment used in commercial/school building custodial, groundskeeping and maintenance work

    • Methods of organizing, prioritizing and completing job duties

    • Ability to read and follow all necessary Health and Safety regulations

    Education and Experience

    A High School Diploma or its equivalent supplemented by four years of responsible experience in the building maintenance trades including at least one year of lead or supervisory experience.

    Licenses and Other Requirements: Valid New York State driver's license.

    Fingerprint clearance NYSED.

    Lifting, walking, standing; noise of machinery; working outside; use of tools, equipment and chemicals.

    On-call as needed.

    Position Schedule:

    This is a part-time position

    25 hours/week

    Monday-Friday 7a-12p with flexibility depending on needs that may arise across the campuses.

    Schedule

    Full-time, 40 hours per week: Lead the Movement & Games program with the students of Waldorf School of Saratoga from 1st through 8th grade, with the potential for some Kindergarten instruction. In addition to the above, provide a half-time equivalent contribution to the school that may be in the form of: teaching an additional special subject, leading an after school club, providing regular substitution throughout the grades.

    Essential Job Functions

    Provide in-class instruction to grade school students through 10-12 teaching hours per week when school is in session, in line with the goals of the School’s Movement and Games program.

    • Prepare and present weekly or bi-weekly lessons

    • Set and carry out goals for student learning and achievement

    • Collaborate with class teachers to support all students

    • Communicate any apparent special needs or learning difficulties to school specialists

    • Communicate with parents about student needs and student progress

    • Write student reports twice a year

    • Conduct parent teacher conferences

    • Supervise students during recess and dismissal as assigned

    • Substitute as needed

    • Attend 1-3 regular weekly meetings

  • Title: Summer Enrichment Program Teacher Assistant

    Role: Part-Time, Nonexempt

    Position Summary: This person will be responsible for assisting a Waldorf Lead Teacher in the general supervision, care and management of a class during Waldorf’s 2024 Summer Enrichment Program. This person will further support the school’s educational philosophy—to help develop the “whole” child, meeting their educational spiritual, social, physical and emotional needs within a nurturing Waldorf environment in a fun and stimulating summer camp setting.

    Accountability: The Assistant Teacher reports to the Administrator and works under the direct supervision of the Lead Teacher.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    ● Care for, model and teach--under direction of the lead teacher--the children in the assigned camp group.

    ● Assist in implementing the program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the school.

    ● Assist Camp Lead Teacher in planning lessons under the camp curriculums.

    ● Help in executing school activities and procedures:

    Attend and assist in school activities and walking field trips, etc.

    Assist in getting camp ready for operation and closing up camp in preparation for fall programing.

    Prepare snacks/food and assist children during meal times as needed.

    ● Take on other duties as requested by the Lead Teacher and/or Administrator.

    Qualifications: Experience working with preschool and school-age children. The person must have strong interpersonal skills, a love for children, and a warm and friendly personality. The person should be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others and be able to relate well to both children and adults.

    Hours: Part-time, 8:30 AM–3:00 PM Monday–Friday between June 24 and August 2

    (6-week assignment).

    Pay Rate: $17.25/hr
