Caregiver-child playgroups
Based on the respectful, caregiving approach of early childhood pioneers Emmi Pickler and Magda Gerber, our Playgroups offer each child and caregiver the opportunity to take a break from the busyness of everyday life and come together in a warm home-like setting to enjoy time together.
Under the guidance of a Waldorf-trained Early Childhood Teacher and their caregiver, each child will enjoy free play (both indoors and outdoors), a nutritious snack time, and a circle time with songs and lap games. Caregivers will participate in both quiet observation and lively discussions about child development, parenting issues, and Waldorf education, with special attention to the importance of rhythm and routine, sleep, self-initiated play and the social development of the child.
designed For 18 months (by session start date) through 3 years.
We’re happy to share that this fall we’ll be offering three one-day playgroup classes at our Forest Kindergarten campus! We hope these gatherings provide a lovely way to connect with our community and enjoy time in nature with your little ones.
About the Class
- This class is for children 18 months to 3 years old, and they must be accompanied by a caregiver.
- Each class is held outdoors at our Forest Kindergarten campus (45 Kaydeross Ave. W., Saratoga Springs) and lasts 90 minutes.
- Please come dressed appropriately for the weather—rain boots and rain pants are a must!
- Each class costs $10. Both payment and registration are completed online HERE. You will need to sign up for each class individually.
- A simple snack for the children will be provided. Please note that no outside food or drink is permitted, as we have life-threatening allergies on this campus.
- Each session includes a short, easy walk along our forest trails. The trails are dirt paths with natural features such as roots, stumps, rocks, and mud.
Fall Class Dates
- Saturday, November 1, 10–11:30 am
- Wednesday, November 5, 10–11:30 am
- Wednesday, December 3, 10–11:30 am
Please note that we’ll be bringing back our beloved 8-week playgroup sessions this winter. These gatherings offer families the chance to slow down, connect, and experience the gentle rhythms of Waldorf early childhood education in a warm, nurturing setting. We'll share more information about our winter playgroup as the season draws nearer.
