Waldorf Education Essentials
Meet our students and you’ll see: they are creative, capable, resourceful, and compassionate—ready to embrace their authentic selves and all that life has to offer. Explore what makes our school & Waldorf Education truly extraordinary below!

Celebrating over 40 years in Saratoga Springs, The Waldorf School—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit—nurtures the whole child through a holistic approach grounded in evolving Waldorf principles. Rooted in a rich curriculum of academics, music, art, and movement, we cultivate creative, socially responsible individuals with a true vigor for life.

Global Perspectives
By engaging deeply with global cultures, traditions, and current events, our students learn to navigate and appreciate the complexities of today’s diverse world. From celebrating global festivals and stories to examining modern issues through an analytical lens, they develop a meaningful understanding of our shared humanity—equipping them with the empathy, insight, and critical thinking skills needed to face the challenges of a global society.

Experiential Learning
Waldorf students engage deeply with their learning by starting with hands-on, multi-sensory experiences that connect lesson content to the world around them. From exploring new paths at our Forest Kindergarten to our immersive trips and labs in the Middle Grades, this approach fosters meaningful, personal discovery and curiosity. Each encounter becomes a stepping stone to understanding—culminating in projects like Main Lesson books, essays, performances, and presentations that reflect the depth of their earned knowledge.

Nature Immersion
Our Early Childhood students spend a majority of their time in the meadow and along the forest trails and in our quiet urban yard at both the In Town and Forest Kindergarten campuses. But nature immersion doesn't stop there! Whether our students are hiking in the Catskills, studying astronomy in the Adirondacks, maintaining trails, participating in community service projects, or enjoying farm life on the 3rd grade Farm Trip, our students develop a love and appreciation for the natural world.

Integrated Art Education
Waldorf education offers a truly holistic liberal arts experience, where the integration of disciplines nurtures the whole student. In addition to strong academics in Science, Mathematics, and English, students engage deeply with the arts—including visual arts, woodworking, drama, and both vocal and instrumental music. These artistic experiences aren’t just enrichment—they’re essential. They awaken creativity, cultivate discipline, and develop the intellectual, emotional, and physical capacities that support well-rounded growth. Movement and hands-on learning are woven into the daily experience, helping students make meaningful connections across subjects. At WSSS, the arts aren’t an add-on—they are the lifeblood of an ever-evolving, multidisciplinary education that prepares students to think independently, feel deeply, and engage fully with the world around them.
