Summer Enrichment Program
The Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs is pleased to welcome back our summer enrichment programs for 2024! Days will be led by teachers in our school community as well as our teacher assistants. Days will be imbued with the familiar rhythm of the school day—with special times for seasonal handwork, storytelling, outdoor adventure, and plenty of time for play as children explore the season of summer together. Each week will encompass a new theme.

Forest Summer Enrichment Program
For children ages 3 - 6
June 24th — August 2nd
Sign up available in one week increments
9:00am — 3:00pm daily
There will be no aftercare provided
No program on July4th
Space is limited to 20 children, with a lead teacher and two assistant teachers
*Please note that children must be able to use the bathroom fully independently before enrolling.
Forest Summer Enrichment Program Description:
Our Forest program is designed to engage children in exploration of their environment. Our Forest campus is Located on Spa State Park land which features numerous forested hiking trails and ample yard space for climbing, gardening, digging, playing, and working. A restored farmhouse provides a nurturing indoor space and respite from extreme weather.
Each week is led by a particular theme of focus and water play will be incorporated each day to provide fun and relief from those hot summer days.

Forest Summer Enrichment Program Weekly Themes
Week 1 (June 24 — June 28): Wonder with Bubbles & Water
Week 2 (July 1 — July 5): The Dynamics of Air
Week 3 (July 8 — July 12): Discover the Earth
Week 4 (July 15 —July 19): The Wonderful World of Bugs
Week 5 (July 22 — July 26): Trees & Flowers
Week 6 (July 29 — Aug 2): Cooking at the Forest
Rhythm at the Forest
9:00 am: Arrival & free play
10 am: Circle time
10:15 am: Snack (provided)
10:45 am: Forest walk
12:30 pm: Lunch
1:00pm: Themed crafts/ activity
3:00 pm: Pick-up
Important Notes:
A backpack that fits a lunch, water bottle, and other essentials such as a change of clothes, sturdy shoes for walking, water shoes/sandals, will be needed. A complete packing list and other essential information will be shared with families closer to the start of summer enrichment. One healthy snack per day will be provided.
Forest Summer Enrichment Program Costs
$350 per week
$280 July 4th week as there will be no enrichment program on July 4th
Early Registration Discount available through March 1, 2024.
Register your child for the full 6-weeks: 10% discount
Sibling Discount: $25 *applied to the total.
A deposit of $150 per week is due at the time of registration.
The business department will send final invoices by email with all/any discounts acquired by May 31st.
Payment is non-refundable unless camp is canceled due to Covid restrictions or if a reserved spot can be filled by someone from the waiting list.
*All discounts will be calculated by the business office before the balance is due.
IMPORTANT NOTICES:
We will need:
1.) An up-to-date immunization record and physical examination form is required and must be received before your child is officially registered for summer enrichment.
2.) An updated Permission/ Medical Authorization form.
3.) The Authorization to Administer Medication form. This form ONLY needs to be filled out if your child will require medication administered while at the program (example: an EpiPen.)

For rising 1st grade - rising 8th graders

Lower Grades Summer Enrichment Program Description:
Our lower grades program is designed to engage children in sustainable and environmentally-friendly crafts and activities that encourage exploration, experimentation, and self-expression.
Under the guidance of our teaching community, children will have the opportunity to create, explore, cook and develop a deeper appreciation for sustainability and the importance of preserving our planet for future generations.
Our indoor and outdoor arts and crafts activities will allow children to explore their creativity in a variety of ways. Whether they’re working with paints, or other materials, our teachers will encourage them to experiment and discover their own unique artistic vision.
In addition to our creative endeavors, we’ll also take time to explore our neighborhood and experience it in new and exciting ways.
From trips to local parks, we’ll discover the beauty and diversity of our area while learning about the importance of sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Lower Grades Summer Enrichment Program Weekly Themes
Week 1 (June 24 — June 28): Wet Felting
Week 2 (July 1 — July 5): Watercolors
Week 3 (July 8 — July 12): Splash of Colors (Working with Different Art Mediums)
Week 4 (July 15 —July 19): Nature & Movement
Week 5 (July 22 — July 26): Crafts from the Indian Subcontinent
Week 6 (July 29 — Aug 2): Weaving

Children may walk to neighborhood playgrounds and occasionally embark on further walking adventures.
